My professor was talking about events on campus and gathering information for our own stories and articles when he began to steer us towards the campus side of things and how we can be better observers to develop campus stories.He then uttered this sentence on us:
"By just keeping the reporter's mindset, you can generate ideas easily and jump off from there. With exception to the university corporation [campus maintenance], that's it's own little fiefdom."
Fiefdom to me is synonymous with "kingdom", a large plot of land that people fight over with one appointed leader running the entire show.
